BR #4: 21 Steps to One Money
May 06, 2023(1 minute read)
"But how can bitcoin be a currency when they just hold it!? They never spend it!" exclaims your friend and dismisses bitcoin as a speculative game.
My dear reader, there is only certain phenomenon in nature: ongoing change.
Everything is in constant motion.
And most people make decisions as if everything will always remain the same.
- EU & USA will always exist.
- Governments will always pay pensions.
- Bitcoin will always remain a speculative asset.
They won't. All of these will change.
Speaking of bitcoin, YES, it was a speculative game. But it is not anymore. It changed.
Here is how:
Bitcoin was born as an idea.
It was then released in the free market.
And ever since it has continuously evolved.
First, it was an attractive collectible for nerds.
Then, it started to be used for dark web transactions.
In the meantime, it became stronger and more decentralized.
People started speculating that others will buy bitcoin...and so they did.
But after three bull markets, its subsequent price drops were always smaller.
It turned out that over longer periods of time BTC's purchasing power increased.
Bitcoin evolved into an emerging store of value asset.
Institutions noticed it, researched it, and bought some of it.
And here is bitcoin in 2023 adopted by Fidelity, BlackRock, El Salvador.
As others adopt it, bitcoin will grow into a recognizable and reliable store of value.
As bitcoin's adoption grows its price will appreciate to $500k, $1 million, $2 million..
At some point, its price growth will slow down and early adopters will start spending it!
This is when your friend finally wakes up and sees people paying each other in bitcoins.
Your friend finally converts his devalued fiat into satoshis (he can't dream of owning 1 bitcoin).
He can happily use the bitcoins to to pay for stuff.
Don't be like your friend : )
Get comfortable with change and use it to your advantage!
